Atlas Air Hiring
All that said, if I went around where I lived and complained about making what I do, I'd probably get my teeth knocked in. It's not bad money; it's just less money than what you could make at a legacy carrier right now.

FWIW, at the first day of recurrent ground school today we heard that there will be classes ongoing for the foreseeable future; probably that means at least through this year and most likely beyond. Atlas is Atlas and that could change tomorrow but given the current demography and plans for growth I suspect that it won't.

I have talked to a few friends at Atlas about working there but still undecided. I guess I should take the test first before I figure out what to do!

Same exact boat. I applied to Atlas last year (!) and was randomly e-mailed this week for the test. 0 internals, 4000 total, 2600 jet SIC, and about to upgrade at a regional.

The real question is where would you rather get stuck? A regional or Atlas? There is no guarantee that you get an interview anywhere else. I still have buddies sticking it out at the regionals holding out for the one major they want. What if they never call? Food for thought. No clue on what a major likes better on a resume.
To: Lawn and Realtalk,
If you haven't already, I would suggest reading this WHOLE thread...that gives you the best idea what Atlas is like, other than working here. There are also some threads on ************* and pprune.org.
You are the one in the best position to know for yourself whether it's better to stay or move to Atlas.

I agree... Get the PIC since you're almost there. Then come to Atlas. I don't know of anyone who didn't fill a diversity slot that got hired without PIC. The bottom line is that you need to check that box and you'll wait a long time at Atlas. What if you don't like it at Atlas or we furlough? What if the company goes under? Now you're stuck and you still have no PIC.
I know of a TON of FOs that are stuck here because they came with zero PIC. Part of me thinks the company likes zero PIC guys because it's difficult to leave without the company getting their money's worth.
