Pete, same here. Same qualifications. Looking hard at regionals and some low cost outfits, but also see that at the end of the paycheck there still will be half a month left. Us old farts have mortgages, kids that need to go to college and wives that once in a while want to go shopping.
Looking at the flashing TSA ad above, those numbers 35.81 / 62.84 should be for a 35 hr work week, not 75 a month. And that..... is why there is a looming pilot shortage.

Not that it matters because they aren't sending me anything, but the second option is 1500TT with 141 training and an SIC/PIC Jet Type Rating.

I hear ya...and I know what this is gonna be like. I was at TSA years ago, and this will be my fourth stint in the regionals...having had two airlines shut down on my in between now and then. I have a thing I do at night before I go to sleep. I just repeat "I love my job" 20 times and hit myself in the forehead with an open palm.

Good luck!

Honestly Pete, you are too much of a flight risk. We lost 20 guys off this latest seniority list (one month). All guys with your types of quals. You would be a waste of training dollars. I remember back in 09' when my father was job hunting with 2 Doctorates, and 2 Masters degrees. People wouldn't even look at him. Eventually he left off 3 of his 4 Graduate degrees and and viola! Sadly, that is not really an option in our profession. Still, keep your chin up, try and remain in an active Captain seat, and a Major will call eventually assuming no other background issues. Your quals are saving you right now, as hard as that is to see as you head off to another prop regional. Hang in there, call will come from someone that deserves your quals. Not this outfit...trust me.

Thanks, I appreciate the insight. I have several friends there, and I've been watching the proceedings regarding the contract. I benefit from the ACMI schedule (big blocks on, big blocks off) and having been at EIA and K4 I would like to do that again at Atlas.

I definitely hope it all works out for you guys whether I get a shot there or not. Thanks again!

I am also ex EIA- I had almost given up on Atlas when they finally called me. Updating requently seemed to help; also had my contacts resubmit my recommendation.

Is there anyway to avoid the 17 day on schedule at Atlas? I would assume the 76 would maybe have shorter trips?

There is. if you can hold a 60 day line you will instead have 3 trips in 2 months. Those usually run from 6-13 days in length for each trip. But at some point you will most likely see 17 days away from home.

Just looking at the 767 bid lines, there are some one month lines that go to work 3 times and some go once. It does look like their flying is more broken up than the 400. The 767 has lots of reserve lines that start at 00:01z and end at 23:59z so you could be giving up the day before and day after if you don't live close to CVG.

Asking this question puts you at risk of never being happy at Atlas...I'm not suggesting for one moment that it's okay to be away from home for that many days at a time. However, that is life at the present time at Atlas...unless we come up with better language in our next CBA, that is NOT likely to change.

Past performance is no indication of future...just because 767 lines (and even some 747 lines) show shorter trips on the bid packages means nothing.

I'd do some real soul-searching if this can work for you...at this point, it doesn't seem likely. (Trust me, I'm not suggesting for one moment that our current schedules are okay -- and I am NOT drinking the company-flavored Kool Aid.)
