If you read through the thread, some guys barely get wet and get called rather quick when they were interviewing, other guys need life vests/rafts because they've treaded water in the pool so long before getting called.
Consensus is that once given the thumbs up and placed in the pool, the pool is competitive and based on your overall point score. From resume/PAQ submission, phone screen, tech test, 4 phased interview in MIA, to include during the facility tour and recs, till the time you walk out the door and go home eagerly awaiting the letter that will come 14-16 days afterwards.
One pilot may interview and be placed in the pool, another guy interviews after the first guy, but gets called first.

Tech Test
Sooooo since "That Guy" who came up with the online tech test is now history (says the Thread 10 or so pages back), has anyone in the know heard if "that" Tech Test will still be used or will they come up with something new with new rounds of interviews and hiring picking up? Have studied long and hard for the current Tech Test. A "new" test might mean a few steps back...

Now that some of us have been thrown a life line from the pool how about some advice on to not look like a complete tool out on the line. Im talking mre in line of how you guys pack, what kind of bags (do you carry they oversized steel frame bags and ago other airlines have a fit when toy try to carry them on?) Did you ever make the switch to electronic charts? They talked about that during our interviews. Also what do you guys find to be the best way of keeping in touch with family back home? I'm guessing face time or skype? I know during our interview they also mentioned switching to a tablet system for crew messages. Has that happened yet? Any info on daily life would be great! I know about the rapidly changing schedules. Thanks for any info!

I'll try. I had the short PNS bag from the prior life. I can use it for 10-12 days, since I have a good track record with them, I went for the 26 inch for more than 12 days at a time. The company will pay a checked bag fee so it gets checked if I don't have status on the airline I'm riding. I plan on doing laundry somewhere if I'm out for the full 17 days.
The -8 has an EFB but we're still using paper charts officially. Skype works for me but there are some issues with it in Dubai. There are some work arounds, I don't make that many calls back.
The Galaxy Tabs are being rolled out slowly, it'll be several more months I think before everyone has one.

I was checking bags for a while, and that went okay. Delta tore my bag up once, and the 26" loaner was nice, but too much hassle. USAir will make you check any 3rd item and usually the tall bag, too, and I get USAir a lot for domestic commutes. i only carry the bags on now, after a buddy spent 24 hours in Guam at a beachfront hotel with just his uniform to wear. losing your bag just plain sucks, even just for a day.
a lot of guys use the wheelie briefcases, and now i understand why. the backpack works, but it's heavy with all the crap I cram into it.
i mainly use skype for video calls with the kiddos. Facetime can be finicky even when on a hotel WiFi network, depends on the country you're in. otherwise, i don't use my phone at all when international. google voice (1 cent/minute) for phone calls, skype for the family.
i try to pack for 7-8 days and do laundry on the road. no big deal so far.

How old is too old to get hired at Atlas....
Hi all,
I don't remember the answer to this question if was previously posted, but does Atlas not hire above a certain age... It's a topic that I don't really think about because I don't think/feel old. I have a touch over 6000 hrs TT and almost 3000 turboprop (ATR 72/42) PIC time (but no jet time). I have international time (India, Caribbean, South America). I also have 2 internal Atlas refs and one from Polar. But I'm 54 years old. If not the lack of jet time, is the age a deal-breaker?
Thanks for your thoughts...
