If there are new hires spots open on the 747 that's really abusing the system. Not that it's surprising... My guess is that the 747 and 767 emails will both go way up in the next few months on the FO side.

easier to cover staffing problems on the 747 via OT or out base. (although 747 out base recently went pretty dang junior). Wasn't that long ago we had a CVG-ATL run on the 767 cancel because no one from either seat bid for it. Letting the 767 FOs go now would most likely make things much worse with no ability to recover. (read between the lines on the recent CP letter) The other FO called in sick on my TPE run last month - they sent us two CAs/two FOs to cover what one guy does in 12 days. One was a reserve in TPE, two were flown from/back to NRT, and one CA commercialed in from Germany, each to operate for a single night before moving on. We normally have a full reserve crew in TPE. If we're borrowing from HHN, staffing is pretty dang thin.

There is going to be a large group of NH's stuck in ANC on the 747 paying imputed income for a few years with no movement. Timing is everything.

Very true. I'm just hoping we see movement on the 767 before too long. My class has been bottom of CVG for a year and a half with the only movement being on the 747 side of the house. It's our turn. ;)

The ANC bid packets are ridiculous, though. 45 lines in a typical month, and only a handful are 17-day patterns. Some 60-day lines have 5 trips, some 30-day lines have 3. That's just crazy. I'm all about giving the guys who live in ANC choices, but they need to recognize how painful that commute can be WRT burning days off for those who commute. If half the base commutes, make half the lines 17-day patterns. Not much sympathy from the ExCo, either. (Here come the STN jumpseating stories - and yes, that really sucked and I'm glad that got fixed - but if they want to help curb attrition, that's an easy zero-cost place to start) |

Training pay. First year Guarantee. Singing bonus paid for full longevity instead of amenable date. No Profit sharing for 1-2 years, depending on DOH. It is a long term trend around here and any attempt at change was met by the EXCO member KM's "What are you willing to give up?" The good news is we will have a paradigm shift in the leadership by year end. |

Absolutely. Glad to see you guys get pushed up, but i'm preparing for the cold stares once you realize I may hang out on the airplane for a while longer. :p
The fisticuffs will only start if you bid LAX. :D |
Is LAX more senior than JFK on the 767?

Atlas Air Hiring
what he means is that from here until about 3 years from now, expect all 747 vacancies to be filled by 767 guys that are more senior to anyone hired this year. unless there is a strong urge for them to fill ANC, they are going to be filling all vacancies in the lower 48. If you're currently in ANC, settle in. you'll be there a couple years at least. There is always hope though. looks like, three years ago, there was a hiring break from October to march in the 767 side so base vacancies in that gap could be filled potentially by guys still forced into ANC.
