I will have to call at least partial BS on this.. I know of MANY K4 TYPED -400 pilots who have submitted resumes.... some have done the online assessment... only 4 have been called for an interview.... I hardly think thats "anyone who meets requirements and has a pulse".... YMMV

the ones I am aware of...none.

The white elephant in the room is our contract negotiations... Seems like we can barely keep our head above water, and we are on a bankruptcy contract as it is... And the negotiations haven't even begun yet.

I apologize if I'm sticking my nose where it doesn't belong; but, I just have to ask. Why would a guy go to Southern, even as a street captain, when they can just walk next door and go to Atlas? I was looking at the rates, crt, work rules ect and the math just doesn't make sense to me.
It's not really the same argument as asking a guy at Atlas why He's not leaving for Fed Ex, Delta ect.. there's allot of us that are trying that route and it's still pretty difficult to get an interview there.. This is a different argument because, right now, Atlas is hiring anyone who meets their requirements and has a pulse. The guys at the schoolhouse are saying they were told they want 2000 pilots by next year. I would certainly encourage anyone considering Southern to try Atlas first. And if hired at Southern send regular updates to Atlas. It will always be an improvement. |

But United called, and that was that.
Thanks! |
Scare tactics. Southern is the lowest paid group out of all the 1224 pilot's. If they can't make money it's because of the training cost and attrition.

Did you have to attend any job fairs or have any connections, or did they just call based on experience/resume?
Thanks! All the guys I know getting on at Atlas have had their resumes forwarded to the hiring authority by a current Atlas pilot. Certainly seems to have been effective for them. |
I don’t know about the situation at Southern. I can say that Atlas has told us they will be hiring aggressively with no end in sight. I personally would love to fly with guys that have experience on this side of the business model. If the rumor has any validity, I don’t think Atlas is too bad of place to stop for a bit.
