Did you mean to say 0.083?

Yes, my mistake. 0.083, not 0.83.

Glad we cleared that up.

If I was considering hiring you, one of the questions on my mind would be "Was alcohol involved in the second incident in any way?"

There was absolutely no alcohol involved in the second incident. After the DUI, I got into fitness and rarely drink now as a result. I feel that helps my case even more: I do not have any history of alcohol dependence that would put me at increased risk of flying under the influence.

However, keep in mind that if you were looking at hiring me, there's a good chance you would not consider the second incident. It will be expunged by the time I get my commercial rating, and it was not an arrest so I likely won't have to report it to any potential employers.

This is a great answer to this question....

This maybe not so much....

What if, in the interview, I accept your answer to the first question as a good one and I'm satisfied, then I ask "any other brushes with the law?" Are you going to lie to me?

Depending on the state this occurred in, it may create an arrest record. You say you'll have it expunged. That doesn't really mean it didn't happen.

It won't be an issue for your medical if there's no conviction (the original question).

I don't know what exact level background check is completed for 121 work but it is considered "safety sensitive" and that arrest record is really always going to be there. It's likely it wouldn't be found, but, I'd have an answer ready. I'm sure there are folks on here who will know a great deal more than I about the checks.

If an airline finds you've lied on an app or in the interview, you would likely be fired before the end of indoc.

If you were looking to fly "Mr. Gotrocks" around that might be a different story.

As it seems your just getting started you'll have the benefit of the passing of time between this and your first flying job. As stated earlier, try your best to avoid any further brushes with the law..

Just somethings to think about. I hope it all works out for you and you have a long happy career!

Expunged also doesn't necessarily mean "expunged."

Removed at the local level does not mean deleted from national records, and what people oftne think is "expunged," really isn't.

" It was actually topless sunbathing. "

WELL...That changes everything. (!)

I propose we meet for several cocktails and drive down to the Beach to discuss this a little more in depth.

Indecent Exposure ?

I don't THINK SO, Ma'am. !

:)

( Sorry. I will surely go straight to Hell for this .Couldn't resist. )

Stimpson

Then Lord knows what I'll get for thinking I know several majors that might look at that on a resume and give her an immediate interview....

I wouldn't be obnoxious enough to name them but suffice it to say that the spirit of Tailhook never dies in the American southwest...
