Part 135 rvr fluctuating

Sorry if this has been discussed but I could not find it.

I am from Canada and it is legal to do an approach if RVR is fluctuating above and below minums and I can’t find anything that discusses that for FAA (including my Op Specs).

So if required approach RVR is 1800 and reported RVR is 1600V2400 can you initiate the approach? As mentioned in the Title this is for Part 135.

Thank you for your help.

Instantaneous RVR is controlling, the variables are just for information. There will be an instantaneous RVR given, and if not you need to ask for one. As long as the instantaneous RVR is at or above 1800, you’re good to go.

Also applies to 121.

If not available, then the lower number is controlling.

More specifically, Touchdown Zone RVR, if reported, is controlling.

Thats to start the final approach segment on an approach. For launching to your destination if you only have variable RVR, the lowest number is controlling. This for 135.
You never hear (well, you SHOULD not..) variable RVRs from tower/approach when starting an approach.

FAA OpSpec C079. See FSIMS 8900.1, Volume 3; Chapter 18, Section 5, Parapgaph C079 for Part 135

You mean C052. C079 has nothing to do with landing/approaches. That's just for takeoffs.
