Is my misdemeanor a SIDA disqualifier?
Finally at my ATP mins with 100 hrs of multi and now I am coming across this issue. In 2007 I was charged with "giving false information to a police officer" which resulted in a $800 fine. When I was 18 I was at a New Year's Eve party where cops were called to the scene due to complaints from neighbors. One of the cops was writing me up a citation for an MIP (minor in possession of alcohol) but I didn't have an ID on me, so I gave a false name trying to get out of it. He later found out I gave a false name.
So now here I am six years later trying to get on with a 121 and after reading the list of disqualifiers for a SIDA badge I see listed way on the bottom, "dishonesty, fraud, or misrepresentation."
Now on some lists that pop up on a google search I see that this specific "dishonesty, fraud, or misrepresentation" crime is only a disqualifier if it resulted in a felony, however on other lists there is no mention of that.
So am I doomed until 2017? Thanks for any wisdom on the issue.

I'm no lawyer, so take my advice with a grain of salt. Two things I can think of however- 1. While it may not have resulted in a felony, it may still stick out as not being in good favor. I can understand why you might have panicked there, but not everyone will. 2. Not knowing the specifics of your case, it sounds like it was a relatively minor citation if it ended up being a somewhat standard fine. Have you ran a background check on yourself ? I would suggest doing that because sometimes when you've paid your fine / done your probation / community service / whatever it may be entirely expunged. Not just sealed, but as if it never went onto your record. This happens especially with first time offenders.
Final thing: Are you sure that it was a misdemeanor ? I know in several states MIP is a low grade summary offense and false ID to police is a Summary 1 (which is right below a misdemeanor 3).
All of that is worth looking into, and if it is still on your record, I think it'd be worth the $1000 or so you might pay a lawyer to see about getting it expunged. That's not something you'll want following you around regardless, but especially considering it could cost you an interview opportunity down the road.

That's a requirement for any certificate, not just the ATP. Don't think that will stop him from getting an ATP.

No, I'm definitely not trying to hide it. It does currently show up on a background check as a misdemeanor.
I didn't have any problems getting my 135 airport badge but I know the SIDA badge requirements are more strict. This is the only thing on my record. Spotless driving record and no aviation incidents, accidents, or violations of any sort.

If it is showing up on your record, while it may not actually affect your qualification, I'd still see about getting it expunged. I'm pretty sure that's still an option for you with a lawyer in the jurisdiction it happened. I wouldn't considering that trying to hide it.

I don't think a misdemeanor will be a problem for this offense.
Since you were very young, as long as you don't try to hide this it should not be a problem with airlines. Make sure you own up and be ready to tell them what you learned.
