BA to be sued over pilot abuse claims
 

That's one sick dude. That said, it seems a stretch that the airline would have liability here. Or am I missing something?

This looks like a bald faced money grab by the plaintiffs.

I suppose it depends on jurisdiction, but it does sound like a stretch. An employer would reasonably be responsible for a child-care worker who they provided and placed into close proximity with kids. But an off-duty guy on an overnight? All the employer did was send the guy to the country in question.

This, what he does in his own time is his business (and sick if true).

To the person that said cash grab I agree, lawyers go for the "deepest pockets" every time anyways. Plus, they usually try to name as many responsible parties, rules broken, etc. because in most courts it is very hard to add any after the original case has been brought forth.

Not sure how the UK courts work, but here it would be up to the judge on whether or not it is worth it to proceed in the case. I skimmed the article quickly, but I see that the guy is dead? I'd say BA won't be held responsible just because of that and the off duty deal.

His being dead has nothing to do with it...in fact it makes the plaintiff's life easier because that's one less person who might contradict their version of events.

I'm sure they've also sues his estate, if there's anything to it. BA is just the deep pockets here.
