Yeah, trees are cool. Too bad we have been mowing them down. Have you heard about the Amazon? Over 4,000 sq miles cut down in just the last year.

Leaving clear space now that the triple canopy has been removed for new trees to grow. In the meantime, all that lumber is sequestering the CO2. I understand that the population is growing very rapidly and it will continue to put a major strain on the environment. Unfortunately, the tough reality is the planet can't support an ever growing population. The global population has grown from 1 Billion to 7.7 Billion in 200 years and is projected to grow to 11 Billion by 2100. Its a lot to ask of trees to support an atmosphere of 11 Billion people polluting it Probably not a popular opinion. |

Wait, you think they are cutting down the rainforest to give room for new trees to grow? Lol

Over population is about the last topic anyone wants to bring up.
But the reality is if we had 2 or 3 billion people on Earth, everyone could drive a big diesel pickup and eat steak every night, but with 10 billion, we can't. |

I wish we could make people stop having more than one or two kids but I don’t foresee anything like that every happening.
And we are winning. :p |

You aren’t the first one to voice it. Jonathan Swift presented a very compelling pamphlet on it in 1729:

You're correct. That's why we need to look to the rest of the solar system. We could reasonably create a paradise on Earth with ready access to more natural resources, and the ability to "offshore" many of our industrial processes.
