Humanoid Robots
I'm going to try and post the article for the Aviation Technology forum here. I've tried for 24 hours to post it in the proper forum. The bare bones reboot of Firefox didn't make a difference. If I'm successful would someone copy the post and see if you can get it posted on Aviation Tech?
Humanoid Robot Pilots Coming https://ua-stena.info/en/robotic-pil...e-near-future/ South Korea is testing humanoid robot pilots that can sit in a standard cockpit seat. The robots memorize the entire flight manual and they claim they can deal with weather and malfunctions. So far testing has only been done in simulators but there are plans to conduct test in a real airplane. |
This is really two separate things which they are trying to achieve...
1. An AI which can operate an airliner autonomously, which we've discussed extensively. 2. A hardware interface which can retrofit to existing aircraft types without a clean-sheet design. I'd say #2 is a lot easier than #1, which they still can't even do right for trains, much less over the road vehicles. |

Thanks for moving the post to where it needed to be.
I had originally made a comment about the Airplane! movie but after numerous attempts to post with different browsers I cut the message back to the bare minimums. Now lets see if this reply will go thru. |
