Default Stay at a Regional for 121PIC, or LCC SIC?

Looking to get some opinions on what you guys think about this. Both have their pros and cons obviously I'm just finding that I keep going back and forth as to which is a better move.

Get the 1000 PIC turbine. If I had that before 9/11 it would have saved me almost a decade of pedaling in the wrong direction.

Depends on what your ultimate goal is. If it's to finish out at an LCC, then take the job if you get it, upgrade in a few years, and finish out your career making decent $ (around $200k).

But, if you'd ultimately prefer to end up at a Legacy (AA, DAL, UAL, or SWA) making $300-$500k, you are much better off taking a Regional gig and upgrading to get the 1000 TPIC. And as previously stated on another thread, as of now an AA regional w/ a flow (PSA, Envoy, Piedmont) is the best option if you're just getting started in the 121 world. If I could have done it all over again, I would have gone to Eagle in 2005. I'd be at American now. Hindsight....

Don't feel bad. I was furloughed by USAir in 02 and didn't go back. If I had gone back...

Don't stop at the 121 PIC. Check airmen, safety committee, training dept, recruiting experience. No shortage of guys with 1000tpic and the ones hired with out tpic usually have something extra.

Even if you get the PIC time, you'll still be competing with many other pilot with 1000+ turbine / jet PIC time. I picked the LCC over being a regional CA and i'm very happy I made the jump.

If you do go to an LCC, at least go to one with bases that are good for you and is a place you wouldn't mind being at mid- to long-term.
