Instrument Current

SkyWest Airlines has: "Be at least instrument current" as part of their online FO requirement. Would someone explain to me exactly what this instrument currency is? Is it just the FAA instrument currency I can get at a local flight school? Also how long is this currency good for? Thanks in advance.

Flight training can be an uphill slog if you are not instrument proficient. A guy I knew was a pipeline pilot, never flown into Class B, yet instrument current. He never made it through. However, there are plenty of guys that go get some glass time in a Redbird simulator to become instrument proficient, show up and do fine.

Basically, all regionals are hiring if you show aptitude for instrument flight.

By current they mean FAR currency (six approaches, holding, tracking, or an IPC if needed).

But you will actually want to be proficient unless you want training to be a very uphill battle (likely too uphill).

Is this a real question from an instrument rated pilot?

All 121 flying is instrument. If you are not proficient you won't make it.

Yes, it is a real question from an instrument rated pilot who has not flown for awhile. Currently in a non-flying job so was wondering how much that would affect me when looking to get hired in a few months.
