I am new to this, but from what I have been advised at Job fares, BLUF: Apply time now, get your application in the system, and update it as you continue to accumulate experience. Opportunities are only there for those in the game; you chance is ZERO without and application in the system. Most of the applications can be updated and should be regularly. A fellow transitioning pilot, said you need to make some change to your resume/ application regularly, to keep it from going dormant, or something similar. Networking should also be a major part of your efforts as well. Ill be separating in about a year, Ill let you know how it goes.

Good Luck to you.
