How important is a 4 yr degree for the LCC's?
So of course, we all know a 4 yr degree is a de facto requirements at all of the big 6, and not required at all to be hired at the regionals.....
So how important is it for being hired at the LCC's like JB, Spirit and Allegiant? Thanks! |
Probably not essential, but still a big advantage.

Not essential but still a factor. Maybe eventually they'll prefer no degree, so they know you won't leave for DAL.
If you want LCC, I would get apps out and start working on the degree. I think you'd called eventually, all else being good. |

They told me that it’s important, but in the upcoming years it might not be as much of a big deal as before. Captain told me he didn’t have a degree and got in the left seat without no problems. Do you have enough seniority? Can you pass the training? That's it. The degree, and all other competitive factors, come into play primarily for getting an interview, and to a lesser extent at the interview. Today most airlines WANT to hire you if they call you... you just have to prepare. they already know if you have a degree, so that's not going to be much of an interview factor if they called you in the first place. |
