Default Duties and Responsibilities on a Resume

How are all y'all guys and girls doing?

I'm currently working as a part 135 Captain on a transport category 2 person turbo-prop. I'm looking to apply to a few jet jobs and I was re-working my resume.

Under CA duties and responsibilities I have:

• Operate the aircraft in a safe and legal manner
• Maintain strict adherence to the SOPs
• Conduct pre flight planning & calculate cargo uplift
• Communicate vital flight information to Dispatch
• Ensure maximum efficiency and on time performance

There's a lot of extra stuff in the FOM but to me it mostly seems like legal mumbo-jumbo so I went with the following points. What would you add? What would you remove? Thanks!

I personally think you already have too much. It should go without saying that you “Operate the aircraft in a safe and legal manner” and “Maintain strict adherence to the SOPs”. Those do not need be written and are a waste of paper.

If want to ADD something, perhaps say something like, “Operate into high-density airports, domiciled in XYZ”.
“Handled in-flight medical emergency”. Etc.

Yes, that's a given in 121/135.

I like the mentoring SIC comment though, shows you think about people.

Thanks everyone, I do like that one. Thanks for the help. I do have two bullet points carrying over from the FO position (safe and legal manner + sop one) so I'm trying to think of a way for it not to be too redundant.

Unless you have been doing some extraordinary type of flying, which requires a brief explanation, Duties and Responsibilities are redundant/unnecessary on a Pilot resume IMHO.

As a matter of fact , it may be taken as something that questions the readers intelligence in some cases.

Any airline CP or HR person (and most every layman on the Planet) understands what a "Pilot" does. Or, a Captain or an FO for that matter.

Simple format works best:

> BlowHard Air- 2012-2014 - Captain Be-350
- Corporate 91/135 services.

> Scumbucket Flying Service - 2009-2012 - First Officer DH6
- 135 Ad Hoc freight services.

Short, simple, sweet.

Again, just my opinion.

Good Luck!

What would I remove? All of it.

Are you planning to use this resume outside of aviation where employers wouldn't know anything at all about being a 135 captain? In that case, by all means break it down, make it easy to understand.

If you're applying to another aviation company, we ALL know what the duties of a captain are. You're preaching to the choir. It's redundant and pointless to try to paint a picture. Make it simple. Say you were a captain under Part 135. If you were a check airman, say that. Say what aircraft you flew. There is no need to give a detailed description of the duties of captain. All you need to say is that you were captain, or PIC. Done.

You might add details about the job if you had a special mission, such as air ambulance, or might even note if it's just passenger charter. There's no need to go into great detail unless it's something unusual enough that the reader wouldn't know.

Thank you my friend. I like that. I'm fairly young too, and I have been involved with a handful of other airlines on the ops side as well, so that'll let me do add that in.
