What type of bags do you guys use for trips? Right now, all I have is a cheap small rolling luggage bag. Should I think about buying more for when I am on trips?? I really have zero knowledge on this stuff. Thanks! I’ll be part 121

What kind of flying, how long are your trips? Do we really need to teach these basics?

I’ve packed pretty much the same for decades—for seven nights and either expense the cleaning bill or do laundry in the hotel. If winter, warm sweater, a blazer for dinner and two pair of casual slacks and a rain duster. If summer, some polos and shorts. No, a blazer is not the uniform jacket.

I carried (old school) until I bought the largest Briggs and Riley roller carry-on (22”) and a hanging bag for slacks, uniform and casual. If airlining, check the carry-on, carry the handing bag and briefcase, in case the airline sends my bag to BFE. Nothing like standing at the baggage carousel when it stops and your bag ain’t there. A friend just spent week with SAS trying to catch him to return his bags. The bag arrived at his home same day he did.

You’ll figure it out in ground school. Don’t sweat it until then.

It really depends on the kind of flying you're doing, trip lengths, etc. I have a suitcase with clothing and gear, a small duffle with miscelaneous stuff, and a flight case with the laptop, headset, and other stuff. I use a luggage works rolling bag with skateboard wheels, carry 8 or 9 days change of clothes (in case I can't get laundry done by day 7, or extenuating circumstances, and carry with me what I need to stay on the road indefinitely.

If you're starting out in 121, you can travel with considerably less and you're not going to find yourself isolated in remote places for long periods, or on long journeys. Your biggest concern may be finding a cheap crash pad and surviving on what you make. And eating.
