Default Start with a regional or wait for major

I work for a foreign carrier and would like to move back. 3000 hours all SIC. What are the chances of getting hired by majors like Allegiant, Frontier, Spirt? Should I apply to those airlines and wait? Apply to a regional and get started?
I would like to stay on the West Coast and am leaning towards Compass for a regional and Allegiant for a major. Both don’t seem to be hiring...

Apply for sure, even a regional SIC with 3K turbine time should have his apps out to all the bigs.

Good chance you could get on with a LCC, although as their contracts are improving they may be more competitive. G4 and NK have new contracts, and F9 is probably about to get one.

I wouldn't necessarily do a regional if you're going to bail for a LCC as soon as possible, rather I'd apply to the LCCs and see what happens. Depends on how much of a hurry you're in to get back.

There's some risk with job changes and training events, and you don't want too much job hopping on the resume if possible.

Thanks rickair7777. I like the idea of applying to the LCCs and seeing what happens. I’d like to avoid job hopping as much as possible since it doesn’t reflect well on resumes.
Not really in a hurry, but would like to move sometime next year. I plan on attending job fairs and if that doesn’t work out I’ll settle for a regional.

I would apply to a bunch you ‘may’ want to work for, move back, then keep apps at the majors updated.

I think life at the ‘right’ regional should be tolerable, then you will be here to work job fairs and such.

Default Returning home

Get your apps in with the majors, AMCI, Supplementals, 135 & Fractionals, etc. Find a bridge job before returning home during application/interview process for currency.

Good luck and welcome home.
