Guard/Reserve baby to airlines

Looking for recommendations on a somewhat uncommon career progression.

I started my flying career with the Air Force Reserves, currently accruing international right-seat heavy jet time at a rate of ~30-40hrs/mo. Have about 400 total in the logbook, considering options for how to most rapidly progress to an eventual job with the majors. Would you look at a regional to get the ATP paid for? Stay flying only mil, upgrade to left seat to get some PIC, and wait it out until eligible to go right to a major? Other thoughts on efficient ways to build some TT around the 750 ATP-R timeframe?

The experienced folks in the squadron have given some input, but most came from AD and arrived on the reserve side with all of their requirements already met. Curious to hear your thoughts! Thanks in advance.

Probably regional once you get 750. That will punch 121 and another type. And pay for ATP.

Obviously keep progressing on the mil side too.

If you do pure mil probably going to need 4-5K TT... that might take a while as a TR.

“Bumming” in heavies is down to 30-40 hours a month? Wow, my old C-5 bums were clocking 80 hours a month. Get to 750, then an RJ unless the mil hours improve.

Depending on where you’re stationed, Mil orders to the max until 750hrs, or get on with a regional with a fixed wing top off program for military fixed wing folks (Piedmont has one but not sure if others do too) then hit the regionals and crank out hours there while you wait to upgrade on both fronts.

PIC time and advancing to check airman/instructor on one or both fronts will also be helpful as you network and attend job fairs etc. until you’re finally called.
