Default Driving Record

I'm preparing my application on Airline Apps and I'm getting hung up on the driving record portion. I've never had any accidents, DUIs or anything major, but I want to be honest and disclose everything. The problem is that I've lived in 8 states over the years. At times I was in the military and didn't have a driver's license in the state I lived in. For example, when I try to look up my California driving record it asks for my California DL number, which I never had even though I've been ticketed there.

Does anyone know of a way to get a comprehensive record across multiple states or of a company that can provide this service? I want to have everything on my application as accurate as possible.

Thanks.

I’m also ex mil and had the same question when I was applying a few years ago. I don’t have a great answer to your question but here’s what I did…

I went to the DMV websites of the states I held licenses in and ordered my records where I could…which sounds like you've already done. I also directly called DMVs where I previously held a license and I believe I was able to have them search as well. All of my records came back clean even though I know I had a couple tickets from years prior (apparently the records only go back so many years). So, in the end I just put the dates of the tickets as best I could remember and clearly noted the dates to be approximate.

Also….I did remember times being pulled over and as best I could recall just given a warning. So because I had so few tickets I just included those warnings as actual tickets, just in case (I misremembered something). Another friend who was just hired at the time told me that’s what he did and I thought it was a good way to go. A handful of traffic tickets in 25 plus years (or some long time frame) is no big deal.

As I understand the airlines just want to know that you’re not a habitual offender…i.e. an excessive risk taker, a liability, etc. And, at the same time, that you’re not trying to hide anything, that you’re honest.

I am seriously considering a career change so I recently pulled my entire driving record in PA. Cost $10 and was able to immediately download back to 1984 when I received my license.

1984-1997 - 6 violations including racing and a careless driving from when I was young, ugh! The good news, no violations since 1997! Suffice it to say, would of been an issue if I was applying back in the 90s but now after 22 years of clean driving, would like to think not so much.

Its funny how our perspective changes as we get older. I now have 4 children, including two teenage daughters, and I think to myself, hope their boyfriends don't drive like I use to. Then they end up getting a lecture, haha.
