Default Honest Eval?

Buddy of mine is currently overseas, looking to head home in the next few years & wanting to know his prospects with a major.

Basic stats: 5500TT, 2500 jet. Mix of NB/WB, short-haul & long-haul. 4yr degree. Clean record. Laid-back, charismatic guy. He’s been stuck right seat & is thinking that may cause issues for him, but I can’t ID anything that would stand in his way. What say you, APC?

Currently seeing folks coming back from overseas and going to a regional for a year or so to get some 121 time under their belt and work the job fairs. Then they get hired by majors.

Not seeing a lot of folks without US FAA 121 time in their past getting picked up directly.

Sorry, should have clarified - he flew 121 before coming overseas. Not sure his time there, but he was at a regional for a few years.

It’ll be a dice roll until he actually pulls the trigger to try to come back, but planning on a regional for a bit is the most conservative thing. If he’s got some 121 time and some type experience he may be able to go to ACMIs or U/LCCs directly. If he’s serious about coming back he should start the process now and see how it goes.

He should apply to LCC/ULCC, I've seen some ex-pats getting in at that level. Regionals might be necessary, so be flexible. Also apply to the bigs of course.
