I'm 46, married, 2 kids, mortgage... I have about 8-12 months of CFI'ing left before my 121 apps go out. I was in flight training when the towers got hit, then the came the lost decade... I returned to aviation 15 years later (kids are not cheap! ) I'll likely never see WB Captain but will most likely hit NB Captain with some seniority...

You are young.
You’ll have 10-12 years of wide body Capt in you if you head for :
( in random order)
Western Global
Kalitta
Atlas Air

I started at the age of 27. Now 39 and flying 747's. I had a lot of luck in timing things, most aren't.
If you look at who Delta has been hiring, mostly younger guys. Majors like them young and you won't be a part of that starting at 27 or 28. You really have very little control of your career. You'll wind up where you'll wind up. Hopefully at a decent place with decent pay.

Delta’s average hire has been 39 since 2014, with the oldest at 58. What are you even talking about?

Question: Does it matter how you build time? Is being a flight Instructor better than just flying a bunch of cross country trips? Do you need any turbine time? What about Multi time beyond the FAA requirements?

Not right now, or for the foreseeable future.

Need 1475 total time of any sort and 25 ME (you can get the last 25 ME in the sim at almost every regional now).

ACMI is quite different schedule/QOL experience than legacy WB's.

Legacy WB: Fly to Asia or Europe (mostly). Hotel for 24-30+ hours. Fly back. Credit 25+ hours. Repeat x3 each month. 20 days off. Need more money? Pick up one extra trip/month.

ACMI: Trip is 3 weeks long, and you travel all over the globe. Your circadian rhythm may or may not ever catch up. Then two weeks off.

You can get into ACMI much faster of course. But legacy domestic ops (while you're building seniority for the WB) isn't bad at all.
