Default Interviewing with a CJO

Let’s say someone has applied to Company A and Company B. He interviews with Company A, and gets a training date with that company. He fully intends to join Company A. Now Company B calls for an interview that will take place before his training date. Would you go to the interview, as a backup? Is there anything wrong with it in terms of being bad form? Thanks in advance.

Everyone does this, it’s not in poor taste. Just don’t fail to show up for class without giving notice if you end up changing your mind. It’s always good to keep your options open especially in this industry.

What the previous poster said.

If you would prefer to work for Company B, go to the interview. If they offer, take it and tell Co. A that you are accepting another offer. It’s not a big deal. Happens often.

If the person already had a CJO with the company he wants to work for, I am not sure why he would want to go through the torture of going to another interview to a company he doesn't intend to work for. Once I had the CJO from the company I wanted to work for, I canceled my 3 other interviews.

It’s your career, that’s why you are free to interview!

Because:

1. Situations change all the time. Today’s prize regional may be tomorrow’s dog, and until you actually need to show up for class it’s nice to have options.
2. You thought a regional interview was ‘torture’? For that reason alone you ought to do three more - just for practice. Because unless you aspire to be a regional lifer, you will likely be interviewing someday at a major with a whole lot more on the line than your one (1) regional interview had.
3. Possible earlier class date, equipment you like better, bigger bonus or work rules you like better. Little downside to interviewing, unless you know ahead if time it’s the last place you would ever want to work.

1. We are talking about a matter of weeks here, you don’t need 5 backups and your Regional of choice should not be one that is teetering on the edge of being shutdown.
2. Yes, anytime I have to wear a suit it is torture. Just because you don’t like something doesn’t mean you are not good at it. Let me guess, you loved taking tests in high school? Well, most normal people didn’t. Doesn’t mean they didn’t get an A.
3. He said he was already hires by his Regional of choice, and in my response I emphasized the same exact thing, don’t waste everybody’s time interviewing if you are already going where you want to. Learn to read for comprehension. Figured if it his regional of choice, he found out all of those things through simple research. Most of us do not need to go through the interview process to find out what the work rules are, maybe you did?

CJO does not equal “hired”. Until you are in class with a seniority number you aren’t “hired”. As pointed out by others things change in this industry. Regionals lose contracts, close bases... you name it. I would never turn down an interview until you have started a class. If possible, hold off on turning down a class date until you have started ground school. Even then hold off to a week out if possible.

Heed your own advice, He never said it was the regional of choice, just that he intended on going to the place that offered him the job.
Wearing a suit is torture? Leather for life bro!! What’s your gamer tag for every console?

Wow, you must be a really sophisticated suit wearing gentlemen to resort to petty name calling in the internet.

He said he fully intends to work for company A. How can that be if that is not his regional of choice?

Obviously if the CJO is not from His top choice, by all means continue interviewing.
