You can do that, but you still have to your dues at least as a regional FO.

Only way out of that might be military (assuming you have a dispensation to work 7 days/week for mil service). Take the regional job (still might have to train of a few Sundays or maybe not), then join the mil for a couple years (in any capacity with a low obligation, ie not pilot). By the time you come back, you'd be senior enough at almost any regional base.

Had a guy in my class who had this restriction. Fortunately, we held lines right out of training as 727 F/Es so he made it work from the get go. The downside was he could never upgrade until he could hold weekends off. That delayed him quite a bit to both the right and left seats.

However, his faith and family took precedence, so I doubt he had much heartburn about the upgrade delays. Of course, we didn't have an up or out policy the way some airlines do/did.

There may be another issue as well. If you are devout about working on Sabbath (you didn’t specify which day ) you may also be forced to pay a union, against your convictions, if you want to fly for a common carrier. (At least they will attempt to).

This may further limit your career choices.

I admire your desire to keep your faith foremost, and your family close second.

The only significant non-union airline is SkyWest. May be the only one in the US period.

No......

I'm flying this coming weekend (I'm senior) with 4 of the new hires (they are junior) for differences training.

Now I don't fly a lot of weekends.
I've probably not flown weekend OT for over 2 years.
I did travel to the recurrent sim on Sunday and back on Saturday a few weeks ago.

JPATS doesn't fly weekends as far as I know at all.

I believe mountain air cargo and air cargo carriers almost never work on Sundays

Anyone who has an average level of conscientiousness should avoid this career. It WILL take precedence over every other aspect of your life for a long time.
