Default My parents don't want me to become a pilot

Hey guys, i want to be a airline pilot but my parents thinks there's no job security, low pay and your life is at risk all the time. I really can't see myself doing anything else to be honest. Any advice would be appreciated.

How old are you? If you're still young, focus on school, fly during weekends just for fun. Then make your own decision. With all due respect to parents, you have to take your own decisions one day.

don’t take it personally. A lot of pilots are extremely disgruntled about their current position in the industry. Not everybody makes it to the $250k dollar job that they thought they would and end up slugging it out in the regionals their entire for what is still a very good salary. Being an airline pilot is a good job as long as you can remember that it’s just a job. It’s a paycheck. But if flying is your passion, just let it be your hobby. Go make your money some other way. The best way to ruin something your passionate about is to make it your career. Ruins it every time.

I'm not crazy passionate about flying but this job perfectly fulfils my needs and wants in life. Travel, Decent salary, Have time for hobbies and side gigs, don't bring work home, not crazy hard to understand how to fly compared to STEM. I can go on but a airline pilot career fits my personality and what I want out of life.
