With all due respect sir but your time was different than now. You can't compare the industry in the 90s to now. We're in a different decade which means different opportunities. Also, the Kent State program flight fees is really affordable and I'm in state.

Thank you sir, but I really want to start sooner than later. And also, getting a aviation degree would help me reach the airlines faster since seniority is everything. I plan on getting my dispatcher when I'm in the regionals.

You come looking for advice from people with experience in the industry, then reject it out of hand. If you want to be patted on the head, go elsewhere. I’ve been throughout the industry for decades, have dozens of friends at all levels of the business. I’ll stand by my assessment.

The 90’s?
I started flying in the regionals in 2005. My last regional job (Endeavor) was last year. I’ve instructed many new RJ pilots with 1500 hours and 23 years of life. I think I have my finger on the pulse of things.

Thank you, oh and by the way I have scholarships that can pay some of my debt. Also, I'll be attending a in state public college. I'll gladly enjoy my federal student loans.

Hubris at 17 not a good trait to follow. When you are in high school living with your parents it is easy to have that myopic view. When you have true autonomy in the real world, it matters. Interests rates matters, unnecessary debt matters, the sense of being able to pay bills and having enough discretionary money at the end of the month to feed yourself and having a good quality of life matters. Life isn't a race and you have plenty of time to enter into the industry the smart way with little to no debt while taking success as far as you want to go without the time constraint that it is too late to obtain an earlier senority number.

Nah I don't complain or whine oh wait I guess one day I'll be in the left seat grumpy and whining about contracts and management. Like the old saying says "your not truly a airline pilot until you've been furloughed and complained":rolleyes:
