Airlineapps.com question
I'm in the process of completing my first airlineapps.com application and I have a question about the flight times. I have over 30 years of paper logbooks of mostly recreational flying, in addition to my training time and my CFI time. My question is this- how detailed do they really want us to be for purely recreational flying? Ie. 11 hours in a 182, 9 hours in a Cherokee, etc etc? Do they really want to know that I had 46 hours in a PA-38 while training for my private in the 1980s? Or are they really more interested in recent experience and types with 100s of hours.
Can I lump all of it in to "misc. single engine recreational flying" and just break out the big stuff like training time, CFI time, multi engine time and the like? If I have to break it all down this is going to take weeks! |
I'd answer the question as written. Shows attention to detail and you took the time to do it right. It sounds like you're looking for a shortcut and that's how it'll look to HR.

Yeah, I transferred my logbook en masse.
If you use logbook pro, it has reports that match airline apps' categories. You'll want some kind of e-logbook, to save some of your sanity when applying and updating multiple airlines. |
You guys are right, I am looking for a shortcut, or at least looking to avoid a bunch of busywork if it ain't necessary.
I'll bite the bullet and start transferring to electrons. All the 20-something CFIs I work with think I'm old school for still using a paper logbook anyway. They may be on to something... In other news, I am looking for a good logbook program that runs on Mac OS. |
As usual HR is over emphasizing something completely asinine then convinces you it shows “effort” and “attention to detail”.
Yes sir, I did have 1.7 hrs in a Pa32 in 2004 days of which 0.4 at night. Thank you for noticing. Now tell me about a time you were asked to do something completely irrelevant and pointless....? Well, now that you mention it. |
