There's always something looming. The chicken littles have been calling for the "7 year" recession since 2015. If it's actually here now, it's seven years late
Unless unemployment would be catastrophic for your family finances (or retirement planning if 50+), I wouldn't delay a career move based on "what ifs". There's still a shortage of workers in almost every field, even if you lose a pilot job.

Absolutely makes sense. Since you probably have 10x the experience in this industry that I do, would you advise someone to trade part 135 Jet PIC for a seniority number at an LCC? 121 career is the goal and retiring flying a NB would be perfectly fine, despite what my username states.
Yes. I played things conservative, if I'd been more aggressive I'd be better off today, even if I had been furloughed at some point. I'm still just fine financially, did some other stuff on the side but I could have made more money, more easily with a more aggressive approach to the airlines.
Unless you're close to age 65 and the retirement's not funded. Even then, personally I'd still probably take the chance, worst case you do 91/135 past 65.
Or if you're sole breadwinner with sick or special needs family member.
