General question about the pay

It’s a bit of a dumb question, but I have been thinking about it for a while.
1. Captain pay based on years at the company or years as a captain?
2. if someone goes from NB captain to WB FO, do they start from the beginning of the WB FO pay scale or they start what whatever year they at?

It's longevity pay. Five years as n/b FO then transition to w/b FO? You're on year 6 pay. Five years later upgrade to n/b CA? You're on year 11 pay.

For essentially all US airlines, you keep your company longevity (based on DOH) as you move between payscales.

Be aware that is not necessarily the case in all aviation sectors, and it's actually common for foriegn airlines to actually start you over at year one on the CA scale when you upgrade.

There are a lot of new pilots that were unaware of this.
