Failed evaluation
 
I had an unsuccesful non FAA observation and resigned. Besides that i have no negative information on my FAA records and no failed checkrides (7 typre ratings and many 135 evaluations as well). How will this negative outcome affect me moving forward?

What does "non FAA observation" mean? Need a lot more information than you are providing.

This sounds like a Part 91 evaluation; corporate department, or something along those lines? Not a checkride? Not a training event? Can you cite this as a difference of opinion, for which you sought to go elsewhere? You weren't fired. Did you resign because you had to resign, or because you didn't want to put up with that employer any more?

There's so much movement in this industry lately, it's like pingpong balls in a lottery cage. Leaving one job for another isn't just anticipated, but expected, unless you're at a legacy job where people go to die.

had to resign ....it was an observation at a 135 operator so its in the PRD. Sorry should of been more detailed.

It's a bigger problem because it's recent. Apply everywhere 121, 135, regionals (if you have 135 PIC) and work very hard to have a successful training event.

Hiring is slowing down but it hasn't stopped.

What does moving forward look like? With 7 type ratings I'm assuming you're at least mid career, but could also be close to retirement. What's your time horizon? Do you want 91? 135? 121? How much flexibility do you have to move?

Can you talk to your former colleagues and get HONEST feeback? Was this evaluation targeted at you or random? If targeted, was it for personal or professional reasons? How bad did you fail and why? See if your guys will tell you "heck, it happened to bob, I hope it doesn't happen to me" or "yeah gosh, I always enjoyed talking to you but I was figuring that would happen one day"

Are you on good terms with the most recent employer? Would they recommend you? (I assume not, but could imagine scenarios where they might). What about previous employers?

135 to finish out my career not long maybe 2-3 years ,was never 121.......1...there was an event,SIC(he was flying) did something very wrong and i didnt catch it Reason for the obs.
2.Feedback from colleagues ,good.and have spoken on my behalf without me even asking.

4.not good why? i think one of the reasons might of been the fact that i was put thru this and the SIC wasnt even called to ask the time of day,that had me very disurbed ,that certainly didnt help
5.good terms? no not really although i was there for a few years with no other negative outcomes ever.
6.previous employers would speak very highly of me if the ask them ( one is no longer in business)

What was the debrief on the failed observation ride? Is the SIC that was party to this event a well connected insider? In some ways it doesn’t matter, you will have to explain it in an interview and having to explain any negative means you are on the defensive and need to really have the best answer that doesn’t make you look bad. As far as potential employment, do you have enough PIC part 135 time to be a quick upgrade at a regional? Might seem implausible, but your best shot may be as a quick upgrade captain at a regional. You would need to run this by a recruiter at the airlines, and you would be well advised, to talk to one of the companies that prep pilots for interviews. That will cost $$ but it may be the best money you spend to get you moving forward.

I would think that if you where there for some time and have otherwise a good training record and no violations etc i would explain it as a lesson learned and that you have turned that page and moved forward,no reason to look in the rear.viewmirror.You will be fine.
