Thanks for all of those questions Fartknocker. Seriously though, do your fingers hurt?

My fingers are fine.

Luckily, I had these questions saved on my computer. It was a simple copy and paste to the website. Hope they help.

In the question about the drunk captain, I think another key part of the answer is that you should take the Captain aside somewhere private and question him about it, don't do all of this in the gate area where you guys are in view of all the passangers. Because most likely things could get out of hand, especially if the Captain doesn't take lightly to his young FO questioning his ability. Also definitely if he insists on getting on the flight, call a supervisor and most definitely don't get on the airplane.

Hope that helps

That's a very good point. I wouldn't want to ruin any passenger's confidence in the airline by causing a scene.

Well plus that is better for the Captain's dignity, and if he decides to walk away, then you are the only one who knows the real reason, and he might still have a career.

If the drunk CA refuses to call in sick you then have three choices...

1) Call the company
2) Call the cops
3) Call in sick yourself.

#3 might prevent him from flying for a few hours, but will do nothing about the long term issues. Also, if they find a reserve FO quickly, he might still get to fly drunk.

It would never go this far in the real world...nobody is that stupid.

Zero. No backseat "flight instruction" from me. I can't stand it when people do that. I guess they're looking to see what your initial reaction is when they ask that question.
