Winds

Metar winds are referenced to true north?
I though ATIS and metar winds are the only ones that are reported as magnetic?

I thought they were magnetic, too, since you compare it to what runway you are taking off/landing on. Winds aloft are true north, since they cover such a large area so there is no specific magnetic variation.

If my memory is correct, I believe METAR winds are True, and ATIS is Mag. Ditto on the aloft winds being True.

If you are reading the winds i.e.Metar they are TRUE.
ATIS winds are MAGNETIC.

Yeah they are true according to the ATP written and wx services book. I for some reason thought they were magnetic!
Everything else said about winds aloft and atis is correct.
Thanks guys!
