Default Are Job Fairs worth attending?

If any of you have attended a job fair for ie: SWA, UPS, or any other airline/fractional what has it done for you?

Did you get an edge on being called for an interview?

Were you hired and landed a good job because you attended?

Can you explain what the job fair did for you?

Was it worth attending?

If airlines are hiring, then I would say yes, they are helpful.

I attended an Air, Inc job fair and shortly after got called for an interview with AirTran. I attended a jetBlue job fair at their campus in Orlando and shortly after got called for an interview.

I got hired at both interviews, but I am sitting in their "pools" waiting.

O.K. Marvin,

So it put you in their "pools".
Would you say that once you are in a pool, that puts you on a list to call when they start hiring?

How long have you been in the AT pool? JB pool?

I was just concerned about having to pay for airline tickets, hotel, ground transportation, etc.

Job Fairs are worth it if you are hired.

I have read some posts where pilots have been waiting a very long time. I guess you can go fly somewhere else while waiting.

Depends on the company. UPS, no. I believe SWA and several others do a first in, first out deal. If you want to call that seniority... You're not 'hired' till you get an employee number.
