Default Good interview preparation books

Hey guys

Thought it might be a good idea to start a thread on interview preparation books. There are so many about but you never know which are the ones are worth spending money on!

Any one got any recommendations?

George

I have read a few. The Cathay Interview one is good but the one I found to be the best is one a friend recommended to me its called "get a head for the sky". There’s a website about the book just add .com to the title. It’s pretty good for all aspects of interviewing. They call it a “preparation system” which sums it up pretty well. It takes you through the whole process from application form to sim check and prepares you for everything that you could reasonably expect in an interview process. I think it might be based on BA's selection. There are some nice little interview techniques in there too. There isn't much on the technical side of things thou. Not really what it concentrates on. More the soft skills type stuff.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for that Bigjarv! I'll check it out. Anyone got any good technical books they recommend? There is one called ace the technical interview that I've seen. Anyone know if it is is any good?

"Everything Explained for the Professional Pilot" is a good FAR refresher/reference. I've heard there are some mistakes in it, but I didn't find any in my perusal. I read a lot of it on my plane ride across country to do my ATP check. Good refresher.

Default Pilot's Guide to the Successful Interview

There is one book I really like and is downloadable. That way you can carry it around so you can prepare for and work on your preparation and interview skills while on the road.

The author is Glen Solly and has written an inexpensive and thorough account on interviewing. A few of the topics covered are:
  • Realizing Your Potential
  • The Employment Process
  • Preparing for the Interview
  • The Mechanics of the Interview
  • Positive Attitude, which includes Mental Toughening and Visualization — I loved this section!
  • A Checklist
  • A Quiz
  • Sample Interview Questions
  • And Dealing with Rejection

You can see my review of the book here on my blog entry: The Dreaded Airline Interview

I think you will find it very useful. Especially the checklist and quiz sections.

Regards,

Jeff
