Default Aptitude Test

Hello.

I just wanted to share my experiense with a major carrier abroad. Me and several of my flight school buddies where invited to IQ Aptitude Selection prosess for a major carrier abroad. I know all the guys, and done all training with them. I've passed all checkrides, all faa test, but when it comes to those IQ Aptitude test, I do not do so well. All of my buddies got accepet, and I got rejected. No feedback was provided. Only, no thx. And some of those guys who got accepted failed several exams in school and checkrides.

Can you prepare for these tests and why do companies have such tests? And will other airlines, think of me differently when failing these tests?..

I sure got the blues now, they are flying regionals, while I keep sending out resumes....

In general, there is no way to study for MMPI and other such aptitude tests. However, I have heard of some type of practice exams or similar. Perhaps someone on here has some advice in that arena.
You might investigate in military circles, I know they use a lot of these types of exams and might have some guidance - any former military folks have input? Try doing a google search for the exam type and see what comes up....

Most U.S. carriers don't use these exams - they are just plain too expensive to implement as a licensed psychologist is required to interpret them. That's the good news!

Why do you think you don't do well on these tests?
Do you possibly have test anxiety?
If so, this IS something you can face and conquer...much like fear of speaking in public, or fear of flying.

I'm sorry you didn't get the job. Have yourself a good old fashioned pity-party and then pick yourself up and move on.
There are bigger and better things on the horizon.
Keep in mind that this just might be a blessing in disguise.

There are plenty of studying for ASVAB & IQ test prep books out there. Also try lumosity.com for cognitive stuff.
