I got an interview for a seasonal aerial mapping job. The first thing is a phone interview and then if you get through the phone interview, you go in person for a written exam, an oral exam, and a flight test.

For anyone that has done this, do you know what the purpose of the phone interview is and what they ask? Any tips on what to study for the oral and written? Is the flight test just testing the maneuvers or do you also have to demonstrate instrument approaches and holds?

Don't have any particulars for this particular job. However, years ago did a phone interview with what was then DHL. The purpose was to screen out early on anyone who may not fit their profile. Think of it a "just want to get to know you". I was interviewed by the Chief pilot Secretary. Real class act. Lated about 15 minutes. No real specific flying questions, many about scope of the job. Would I move, what was my experience. Conduct yourself well, don't stammer with a bunch of uh's. <g> and probably get asked to come on in in person. My brother did some of these aerial surveys seasonally for a few years. If you know the areas they are looking to do then make sure you know how to operate VFR in and around Class B, etc. The contractor stated what they wanted. It was up to my brother to plan and execute a way to fly where they wanted to be. (coordination stuff)

You'll probably do fine... if you tell them to lower the volume on their phone first.
