Best Interview Gouge?
 

What's the best website for interview gouges? I've used aviationinterviews.com in the past but its no longer free. If its worth it I have no problem paying for it.

I use the one you mentioned but Airline Pilot Interview Gouge and Profiles is free. That will be tree fifty.

I know that alot of the conversations in this particular thread is talking about the best interview gouge for pilot use, is there one for the other positions, such as ramp agent, ticketing agent, or flight attendant? Any information would be greatly appreciated.....ALOHA!

There's a new one that's free at Airline Pilot Hiring - The Best Airline Interview Prep, Application, Airline Profiles and Hiring Database!. I think it's only been around a few months so there's no data in there yet but it looks like a good website. Created by a United pilot for other pilots to share interview experiences, etc. The big thing I like is that it's free and no advertisements.

You mean the site that steals copyrighted content and passes it off as their own? These guys embedded all the APC profile content in their site when they first launched calling it their own. I'm guessing they heard from the lawyers so at least they now let you know that instead of having their own content, they just link back to APC. It appears that they've just embedded other websites as pages of their own site and don't have original content.

If the APC admins will let me respond....I'm a United 777 F/O who started this website (AirlinePilotHiring.net) as a hobby. I've put everything from a Layover database to interview gouge, KCM, jumpseat info, FAR/AIM and basically anything I think would be useful to us pilots. It's FREE and without advertising and was done to help out other pilots and as a fun layover project (kind of a a pay it forward proposition).

The statement that my website "steals copyrighted content and passes it off as their own" is blatantly false. I linked to APC's airline profiles in what's called an iFrame where the APC website was fully displayed in a frame within my website. When you click on NTSB reports, FARs, FAA MedExpress, etc. you'll see the same thing.....it's basically linking to another website without navigating away to make it more seamless for the user. Their website was shown in full with nothing added or subtracted and you could navigate their website just you would if you opened it in a separate tab.

This being my first website I now realize that some companies have heartburn with this type of linking because they may lose ad revenue by linking to their pages and bypassing their homepage. I did receive a letter from APCs legal department and I immediately removed the iFrames and changed them to text links. I also tried to contact APC to work with them but could never get a response making it hard for me to apologize and ask them how they'd like me to link to them. I hold APCs content in high regard and hope that next time they will simply e-mail me (my contact e-mail and a contact form are easily found on my website).

Lav, it's important that you differentiate "interview gouge" from "interview prep." The gouge sites will certainly give you the latest info on individual interview experiences, and that's all well and good.

But, if you want to get a job with a major, you need to pony up the money for an interview prep. The two are NOT mutually exclusive. The preps will work with you on everything from body language to key words to use.

A previous poster mentioned Judy Tarver and FAPA. I used her audio file and suggestions for the format an answer needs to take to have the most "punch." I did my actual prep (for UA) with Claudette Carol, who is Judy's business partner, and she's wonderful. She will offer constructive criticism and do so without affecting your confidence. Judy worked for years in pilot hiring at AMR, and Claudette did the same job at AMR Eagle.

Others have used Emerald Coast with great success, as well as Cage Consulting. Cage has people that used to work for legacy United, and they still have a good working relationship. Emerald Coast is mostly pilots at FedEx, and they are well thought of.

Any of the above will also have the latest gouge, as they solicit that information from the pilots after the interviews.

I interviewed with 3 majors prior to UA, and did not get a prep. I got turned down by all 3. The 2 airlines I've gotten prep for, I was hired by (Comair being the other when everyone wanted to go there).

If you're applying to regionals, it's not as critical. But if you are trying to get on with anyone that does not fly RJs, then forget the free gouge sites. Pay for the prep, put in the time necessary, and get the job you want.
