Non-Aviation References

Is it okay/a good idea to use a boss from a non-aviation related job as a reference for pilot jobs? My current boss (government job, non-aviation related) is always offering to give me a gleaming reference whenever I need it, but would this even be considered by a chief pilot?

What about non-flying aviation jobs (ex: airline ground)?

Thanks!

Absolutely, anything that helps you sell yourself during the interview has to be a good thing.

Sure, it cannot hurt. But you also want several recs from pilots who have flown with you, preferably in a supervisory role (CP, PIC, etc)

Any recommendation is a good recommendation.
Just keep in mind, if you're applying for a flying position those who can attest to your flying skills will be valued more. Someone who currently works for the company to which you are applying AND can vouch for your flying ability is best.
