Warrant for my arrest.

Stupid, I know. I got a speeding ticket a little over a year ago. Since I was on poverty pay it was either pay the ticket or eat. I didn't pay the ticket so there was a warrant issued. I paid the ticket a couple months after the warrant was issued, but then a couple months later I got something in the mail that said I still had a warrant. I figured this was a mistake and planned on following up on it then forgot about it. I have not heard anything for about 7 months now. A couple of weeks ago I applied to AE. Today I got an email saying they are going to review my app and that I have 2 days to make any changes. I would like to make sure this warrant is taken care of. Problem is I am in a different state on vacation and can not make it into the local DMV to check. So, should I try and get my application review deferred until I can get this cleared up or is this a non-issue. I realize I did this completely the wrong way, but this is the situation I am in.
Thanks!

If you're serious about a job, you need to make whatever effort will get the job done. That means that "vacation" isn't an excuse.

The fact that you let this be a wild card doesn't bode well for the probability of you fixing this now.

Step one: Can somebody back home go to DMV for you? If so, can you Fedex a power of attorney to them or whatever they may want (after you call DMV)?

Might be time to shave the purple spikes off and remove the ear rings too.

Do you or friends or family members know of an attorney who can act on your behalf? Be prepared however, that the warrant may still appear on your record even if you or potential legal representative are able to clear this matter up.

Good luck.

Most state DMV'S (RMV'S) allow you to do this on their website. I was able to accomplish
this with my name, DL number, date of birth, and $5 bucks. Off of the printer comes an
uncontested 10 year driving history, which you should be able to do being out of town and all. Although not knowing your printer status, at least you'll be able to view it. Hope this helps. Just curious, did AE pull your resume from Airline Apps?

AE will round-file your app if they even suspect you have a warrant.

If possible, get AE to defer your application...QUICKLY before they start looking at you. I don't know of any sure way of doing that without raising flags...if you call them and tell them you have an arrest warrant you need to resolve, they will round-file you as soon as they hang up.

The only thing I can think of is to delete your app (if that's even possible) or change your availability date to some point far in the future (like at least a year). After you get this resolved and VERIFY for 100% sure that the warrant is gone, then re-apply.

This is a conservative industry, and AMR is the poster-child for conservative attitudes in aviation.

It doesn't sound like you are all that serious about the job. Either get your priorites in the right order or forget this career. I'd start by quit speeding. I know the truth can hurt sometimes but you need to realize that people's lives will be in your hands. If you cannot prioritize your life, how are you going to prioritize duties while flying...

When you dont pay a ticket many states suspend your license . I woul;d be willing to bet a case of Fast Tire yours was ..... Most jobs ask Have you ever had a license suspended . ? This is something that needs to be taken care of . Even after the suspension is cleared up you will need to explain.

As far as choosing eating over paying a ticket judges or hearing officers usually give you time to pay if you appear in court rather than flip them the bird and do a no show ..

I for one think youll be fine. This is most likely a bench warrant; just means if u get stopped for somethin else they CAN take you in for it. 99% of the time the cop will issue you a new citation w a new court date on it. I doubt AMR could check on this. or find a record for a simple bench warant. It WILL be on your DMW printout as a speeding conviction, you were convicted in absentia. Plan on explaining this.

Was this in California by any chance?
