A River...
|
Last question on my last college final. Computer Science 580 - Artificial Intelligence.
A farmer is traveling with a chicken, a fox and a bag of grain and comes across a river. There is a small boat used for crossing - so small there is only room for the farmer and one other item. The farmer can't leave the fox and chicken alone, for the fox will eat the chicken. He can't leave the chicken and grain alone, for the chicken will eat the grain. How can he get everyone across intact? More of a logic puzzle. Since this was my last final, I turned it in with an icy cold Mich light to the prof. I then enjoyed the remaining suds in the hall with my class mates. good times. |

You are in a boat on a lake. If you drop anchor, will the lake level (measured at the shoreline) rise, fall, or remain the same?

the water displaced by the boat with the anchor on board is the same as that displaced by the boat and the anchor separately. |

Two more for the road
These two were asked after I was hired as a software weenie at a manufacturing plant.
What happens when you pour 5 gallons of water in a toilet? Why are manhole covers round? |
They're round so that one person can move them out of the way, and it can not possibly fall in to the hole.
