Default Starting from Scratch.... Again..!!

I am 45 years old I have 4700TT 2700 Jet 1200 turbine with a clean flying history the problem I have is I worked for a family owned business from 1982 till 2010, The company went out of business because there was no succession, The owner got cancer and the employs he had to run the company while he was ill ran it in the ground and when the owner finally realized what was happening it was too late. In may of 2010 the doors closed after 40 years (sad) So nowI am with out a job, At first I didn't panic because I thought with the total time I have and the jet and multi time I have I would be able to find a job very fast now 9 months later and my savings almost depleted I am left scrambling. I have lowered my standards now to where I am needing a flying job very bad. So my questions is who do I apply too I meet almost ALL min's but from reading about all regional's I am really scared to apply to any so I guess I will have to take a job with the lesser of the evils... I have herd bad things about all like Gojet, Republic, Air Wisconsin, American Eagle so on and so on...... Without putting anyone on the spot WHAT SHOULD I DO..??
I have even considered paying for a 737 type ($$$$)
Who should I apply too..?
Please help any info would be greatly appreciated...

I doubt that this is help, but I'm sure you know that there are too many pilots at the moment. That may change in the next few years, but you need something now.

Paying for a type is completely worthless currently. Who would hire you? Honestly, try and find a job with zero time in type anywhere on the planet.

Getting on with one of the regionals that you've "heard about" will get a teeny, tiny pay check coming in. Like $1000-ish a month after taxes. Is that going to work for you? You'll be competing with young adults less than half your age who will do it for free, or even pay to do it. If you have a "clean record" now, in general, some regionals have no problem changing that for the worse. Just getting the job puts your record at risk.

I'd go get a "real" job for now, while you keep looking.

What were you typed in? How many turbine PIC hours?

I am typed is a CE525 Citation Jet with CJ1 and CJ2 differences and I have 1280 hours in a King Air C90B. Have you been talking to my wife...LOL
The only thing reason I haven't gotten a "real" job is because I have a bad ankle and standing is outta the question, My ankle is the reason I took up flying, I broke my leg in 7places when I was 16...

Are you current? If not, that will probably be a show stopper in this hiring market. Can you afford to get current? Are you a CFI? If so that's probably your best short-term bet.

In addition to basic FAR currency, you will generally need 50-200 hours in the last 12 months, read the fine print on each airline's website for specifics.

Once all that is resolved, potential employers will wonder about your history...

Regionals will suspect you are overqualified and won't last. You will need to come up with a good song and dance to convince them that you will be OK with $20K, sitting reserve, and working for captains who are about half your age. I have no idea what you should tell them.

Majors and 135/91 will wonder why the long break. Maybe you could say that you have wanted to return to aviation for years, but the job loss was actually a "blessing in disguise" which enabled you to pursue flying again.

You need to get current, come up with a good story, and then start trying to get an inside recommendation from someone...that's still how you get most aviation jobs.

No I am not current in the CJ and no I am not a CFI if I could get a job flyin the CJ then I can and would pay for my re-current, I haven't had a long layoff just since October 2010 I was doing some contract flying for a private owner, But contract work at best it sucks because they know they don't have to spend a lot of money on you and so they run you over and they don't care.
I am fully aware that I will probably going to have to listen to a 25 year old telling me what to do and I am ok with that because I can and do play well with others.
I hate the fact that I might have to start a new career at 45 because aviation is a young persons career unless you have been with a company for some time. If I would have known that I would be in the position I am in now I would have taken a different path so I would be able to keep doing what I LOVE to do and that is FLY FLY FLY. I am ok with making little money starting out cause I know I have to pay my dues....AGAIN...!!....lol
Thanks Rick for the info
I am probably going to apply at several regional's and take my chances...
