Skywest Interview

Has anyone interviewed with them recently? How did it go for you, and what are they offering for bases/equipment?

The current gouges are pretty accurate as well as the info on the other threads. They are currently hiring into the CRJ and Brasilia with at least one class a month in each airplane it looks like. We were told for the CRJ to expect MSP, IAH or ORD. A recent Brasilia class all got FAT except for a few who bid for and got SBP and LAX.

The interview will be with a line captain, who will ask you IFR, systems, weather, and HR type questions. It seems to vary a lot based on your background (prior 121 vs CFI). You will also do a CRM exercise with someone else in your interview group. It's nothing you can study for, just use teamwork and ALL your resources to work through the problem. If you have your ATP or the written there won't be a written test. They may or may not do a sim, plan on doing it though. It will either be a Frasca 142 or an ATC 810. The Frasca wasn't too bad, had a display, was sensitive but it didn't have any insane quirks. Nothing insane, just basic IFR procedures, holding, and an ILS approach. Good Luck!

Thanks, that is good news. Is SKW really tough on recent currency? I have been flying a single engine cessna 10-15 hours a month but renting a light twin is really too expensive for me right now.

Was told in class from the training mgr, SkyWest has classes "planned" thru the year (of course things could change if oil prices continue to rise). Talked of at least 30 a class and possibly 700 new hires this year.

Skywest gives a very professional yet laid back interview. I had a great time when I interviewed there recently. Your HR/Tech will vary greatly on your background/recent experience. Current 121/135 jet will probably eliminate the sim, and make the HR/Tech not to difficult, but regardless, know your stuff. I studied pretty hard for this, and even got some sim time just to be prepared even though I didn't have to do it. Seems like a nice place to work!

All I have to say is that the whole process at SkyWest was a great experience... very easy to get along with the captains doing the interviewing... of my 7-man class they sent 2 away to complete paperwork, they're apparently comming back tomorrow... got to skip the sim and written test, and everything else was very straightforward and laid-back... they pretty much give the impression that everyone who gets an interview will get a class date as long as they don't screw up royally... it's your job to lose... prepare yourself well for the tech interview... relax... be yourself... and the day will pass by without any headaches...
