I don't know about making you any better, but I would say that it is an 'attention to detail' item. I would want my resume to reflect, as accurately as possible, my experience to the tee - especially as FlyerJosh pointed out - you are on the low end of the time scale.

It seems there were stories on this forum recently about people not getting calls because they were a single hour short. It certainly doesn't cost you any pain I would think to regularly update your logbook, especially when job hunting.

50 hours might make the difference between you and somebody who has 40 hours less than you but updated their resume. Besides- 50 hours isn't whether or not it makes you better than others, but rather makes you better than what you were 50 hours ago. That's the whole point of requiring more flight time for applicants. Not because you're better than a pilot that has lower time, but because you yourself are a better pilot than YOU were with lower time.

But then again, what do I know. I only worked in recruiting at a highly coveted regional... screening of all things, resumes.

When you have less than 1000TT, EVERY HOUR COUNTS. Don't make some lame excuse. Play the game. Be open to critique from others, because you're going to get it. You can learn from it or ignore it- your choice, but there are a LOT of people who have been where you are right now. Why reinvent the wheel?
