PS I'd rather have pay thats right on par with said mentioned airlines above rather than exceed it. Look what happened to Comair, and unfortunately Air Wis isnt that far behind.
I check this site out ever so often and I this quote forced me to respond. What's it been like 3 months since 9L got that pay raise and already your starting to act brand new. "At ONE POINT" is a bit of an understatement. You should maybe try ALWAYS until a few months ago. I am in no way praising air whiskey for lending Usairways money to help bring Airways out of Bankruptcy. But we bought into a failing company that gave us 19% ownership and allowed us to have direct relations with Airways by having 3 of our owners on the board of directors. Since then we have given up those rights and Airways has paid us back our money plus interest. All these regionals suck and we all are looking for a way out. Research your history, the same lawyer that help you guys with your current contract did air whiskeys concessionary contract key word is CONCESSIONARY. That pay bump your talking about doesnt add up on paper, you must be a new hire and still getting fed with that prop wash. Your pay will not be close to Awac, Eagle, Asa, or Horizon. Never thought I would live to see the day a 9L driver talk Sh.... about another regional.

+1. We're all eating a ******* sandwich, but we should be trying to get our pay up, not "Stay where everyone else is..."

I will be shocked if I work more than 15 days in August. And I bet I will credit 85+ hours. And if I choose to work a half-day of open time or a couple half-days I'll be pushing 100 credit.

Do your research. The contract at AWAC doesn't suck. But to have much QOL you need to live in base or have a very easy commute, if there is such a thing.

There are better places to work. There are also far worse places to work.

As to the interview? Be yourself. Don't act too cool to do the job. Act willing to work hard and know some basic stuff. The folks who are too cool for school often don't make it. Be flexible. Don't kiss ass, but let them know you're ready to be part of the team. Worked for me.

You should check your facts and have a look at our contract/payrate & bump schedule.

Negative regarding the "new hire" comment. The contract has made life a whole lot easier along with better financial positioning. If im not mistaken (don't have the exact rates in front of me) Q 400 topout is 114hr Capt, 42hr FO. 9E tops 119Capt and 45 FO.

Remember Horizon is a baseball style payrate. Nothing is in stone and management is in the process of reducing their pay and outsourcing much of their flying. I'd say we're on par with Skywest pay rates and probably ASA's. Not really sure and honestly don't care to look. This isn't a stick measuring contest, just stating the facts.

Fair enough I dont have your contract in front of me or your pay bump. Your missing the point dont knock any other regionals when your just coming from being one of the worst. Keep in mind we are in AWAC is in current contract negotiations if we survive 2015 were only going up. Tables can turn at any point is what im getting at how many years have you worked for sub standard rates as oppose to 3-4 months of standard shi...y rates that the rest of us were getting already. What happens if CAL/United or Usairways gives up both out contracts. All I'm saying you can be excited in your new fortunes but dont forget where your coming from.

I am a former AWAC FO. I spent nearly 4 years there and was not even close to upgrade. I was a commuter the last year I was there. I am now a 9E FO living where I grew up and based where I live. AWAC was good to me financially as an FO, but there was zero career progression there for me. I took a 40% paycut for this first year here at 9E. My QOL will be much better. With proper money management on first year pay my wife and I will be fine. Also I am now at a company that seems to be actively seeking growth and is currently in the middle of a mini hiring boom specific to this airline. Be careful if you apply to AWAC because you might never upgrade there before that 2015 contract expires with USAIR, and then you might be forced to find other work whereas I had a choice. AWAC just wasn't for me anymore, more often than not personal preference is a big factor in what company to pursue. If you pursue a career at AWAC be prepared to never upgrade and spend your time there on the bottom of the seniority list. Goodluck.

You're right. I will say this though. There's more future flying in the Q400 compared to that of a CRJ200. Speed, Efficiency and Pax load are our biggest asset with our partners. Thats the one thing we have going regarding future growth. That and the rumored Q4x 97 seat pax turbopro.... Thats just crazy talk IHO.

Then you had better be getting paid according to how many pax you fly around. I don't care what kind of engines the plane has got, 70 seats? I want 70 seat pay rates and right now that is based on the crj700. Anything less and you are hurting everyone, so you got something to shoot for next contract talks.
