Colgan/Mesaba
Have an interview coming up with Colgan....Would anyone be willing to send me a write up of their experience?
I know there are a few gouges out there/ in the forum, but I would like to get as many as possible.
Feel free to send me a PM if you'd like.
Thanks in advance.

i interviewed w/ mesaba back in early june, and here's what went down:
tour of the facility
cognitive test- i did a couple practice questions. when i took the actual one, i just answered the ones that required the least amount of thinking, then went back to others w/ whatever time was left.
written test- legit just like the gouge. ifr questions mostly
oral- some scenario based questions "captain wants to take off w/o being de-iced but it's snowing, wwyd?" i think i had like 3 scenario questions in total? 2 of them were kind of linked together.
a few "tell me about a time" questions. they asked some that were on the gouge, so i just practiced my answers before hand so i didn't totally blank on an answer.
technical stuff- my most recent plane was a cherokee 6, so he asked about some systems on that. i think i got electric sys, fuel, gear (as a joke), and something about the engine if the alternator died, then the battery, what would you do in that airplane.
then they deliberate and let u know if they want a sim out of ya.
sim- a couple steep turns, some vor radial intercepts, some "where are you in relation to the vor", set up for the ils, fly the approach, go missed, and if you don't suck too bad briefing the hold entry, you're done. the sim is a multi. i also was told to hold a certain airspeed, so make sure you do that. make some like radio responses when they prompt you. keep your scan up.
then you go do a drug test before going to the airport.
that's pretty much it. not too bad. everyone makes you feel comfortable.
when's the interview? and please report back to me as to what class you get bc i'm still swimming in a mesaba new hire pool and i think they may have taken the ladder out...no lifeguard on duty either.
GOOD LUCK!

I interviewed July 7th for colgan at Mesaba, the above post by reggie is pretty much it.
-Wunderlic test (apptitude test) 50 questions, 12 minutes, scored only for correct answers, I got to question 32, they get harder as you go. (google it to take some sample tests)
- Technical written, 25 questions covering FAR's, IFR procedures, basic systems, no time limit, very easy just; study commercial/ATP written material
if you pass both of those you get finger printed and then go to the HR/Tech interview
-this took about an hour, basic HR questions: why us, why hire you, your biggest weakness, etc. TMATW kind of questions.
-tech portion was given by a company check airment, very nice guy, pulled out Jeppesen enroute and approach charts and points to a few things then you brief the approach then chatted a bit, very comfortable feeling.
~then if you pass that, they hand you a conditional offer based on the SIM ride and your background check.
-sim is in a Frasa 142ish simulator, not sure what it actually is called, its setup as a baron and they give you power settings and vspeeds before.
fly runway heading, intercept outbound radial, steep turn, vectors to an ILS, go missed, go to published miss, explain the hold, then he breaks you off if you explain it well enough....that's it
he emphasises to hold heading and keep it cordinated. REMEMBER YOUR POWER SETTINGS AND VSPEEDS, EXAMPLE: DON'T PUT THE GEAR DOWN ABOVE 120, HE MAKES A POINT OF THIS, ALSO SLOW TO MANEUVERING SPEED BEFORE THE STEEP TURN,
he states this in his brief before the sim.
then you go take a pee test then you're done...
got called 2 days later that I got the official verbal offer then a call 3 weeks later about class, september 12th class in memphis,
my times: TT 1800 ME 120, ATP written, 250 TPIC prior 135 caravan pilot

No Idea if it is true but people above 1000 tt are the ones getting classes. So do some flying boys, but of course that could change just makes the most sense to me on why you guys are swimming still

My understanding that is for Colgan and from I have been told those in XJ pool are still fine for XJ when the time comes. (Everything is pretty messy/confusing right now)
