Adding to my resume
 

I searched but didn't find anything on this so sorry if this is a duplicate thread.

I'm a CFI around 550TT/250ME and I am looking for ways to build my resume other than TT. I have the FCC restricted radiotelephone, a B.S. in applied math, and I will be taking the ATP written next week. Would the FEX or any other test, license, course, or anything of the like look better for the regional airlines?

It's seems pretty clear that TT ends up being the bottom line for whether you are considered for a position but I haven't found much on what else looks good on a resume. With the months it will take to get the remaining TT wondering what else I can do. Thanks for the input in advance.

You know first of all, I would like to congratulate you on reaching the 550/250 from 220/120 in a short span of less than 9 months.

The first 200-300 hrs after the Commercial or CFI are the most difficult to get, so you have passed that HUMP.

The ATP written is definitely a big plus for some companies & mandatory for a lot. But, Don't wait for ATP written, Just apply to Eagle now since you meet their published minimums & then update when ATP written is done & then keep updating every 25 hrs & take it from there.

Now, just maintain this thrust with which you have reached so far & aim to reach the 700 TT Mark first to qualify for ASA & then 800 TT for Eagle for 2nd level qualification, 900/100 for Commutair.

I think your resume looks decent enough, infact much bettter looking than a lot of folks here.

Hopefully, you will be celebrating this thanksgiving in a Training Class......

Thanks for the reply bc and the compliment as well. I am going to be putting in apps to many airlines including ones that are still a few months off and the ATP(121) written is scheduled for day after tomorrow but my question is what other than that can I do.

There is so little information on the web about what airlines like to see on a resume. There is plenty about resume format, minimum times, and I can see what other requirements specific airlines require such as the ATP written. I also know that if there were any quick, easy things to add to a resume everyone would do it and it wouldn't really add much.

Essentially I'm asking if anyone knows how things like the following would benefit a low time resume
FEX written
ATA (ATP135) written
Any other FAA written
AMP
Military exp
Regional Jet Transition course
Seminars or courses by AOPA
or anything of the like. It seems a little ridiculous to me, whether it actually is or not, that after 2 months of work the only think that has changed on a full page resume is the hundreds digit of my TT.

This may come across like I'm trying to find an easy way to the regionals but I'm asking how I can put in more work now. Please help!!

A CFI trying to get on with a regional huh? Well you're my competition so I probably shouldn't help :D but I'll try.

Airlines want pilots, but they are also looking for well rounded individuals. Here's a short list of relatively easy yet rewarding extra curriculars that might help beef up a resume:

-Join the Civil Air Patrol, a great opportunity for serving your local community.

-Scuba diving certification- only takes one weekend and who knows, maybe the interviewer is a diver.

-If you're athletic, do some local races, (5k,10k etc.). Running, biking or triathlons. If you place fairly well or at least finish you could put that on a resume.

-Become a judge for local aerobatic competitions.

- As a CFI see if you can visit local high schools around your area and try to generate enthusiasm and new business for yourself and your flight school.

Just some of my own ideas, take 'em or leave 'em.

There is so many regionals hiring, this should not be even a consideration
