Driving Record Clean or not?
 

I have an interview coming up and the application says to list all violations in the last 10 years. The only 2 tickets I have are from 2003 and 2004 that I can remember. The problem is that my state only goes back 5 years so my record is "clean". Can the airlines see back further through some special system?..just curious.

I cannot accurately remember the dates of the tickets nor was I able to obtain then from the DMV.

I don't have a source, but I do remember reading someone post over the summer in a different thread that the airlines see your entire driving history, not only the shortened timeframe that your state's records show. This is through the National Driver's Register I believe.

IMO, you'd be better off listing those two tickets with approximate dates, rather than not putting them down and chancing that they come across them through a different driving record/background check thing.

Like if you say you have a speeding ticket from July 2003 and it was really May 2003 at least you can explain your way out of it because you aren't hiding anything, just couldn't remember the exact date.

It would be sad if not reporting two tickets from 7+ years ago cost you a job offer when I doubt they would count much against you.
