121 Regs
i have an interview coming up for Horizon. After looking through all the gouges, it looks like they ask quite a few questions on 121 flight/duty time limitations, and takeoff/alternate minimums. Do I need to know them all for domestic, flag, and supplemental? Or just focus on one? It seems like it always says that the OpsSpecs will be different from the standard regs anyway.

I would tend to focus on domestic, since that will be 99.5% of what horizon does. They probably do a teeny bit of supplemental but I doubt any flag ops.

Got a call yesterday. Interview is scheduled for Nov. 2nd.

Mil to 121
If you are leaving the military and making the transition are you expected to cram the 121 rules for an interview? Or do they understand you haven't flown under that reg yet?

I just went through an interview at Horizon on Wednesday the 19th, so my input is based on that.
For the technical things, I would say you should know at least a good portion of what 121 says about some of the more prominent subject area. Everything regarding alternates for takeoff or arrival, fuel requirements, O2 requirements, duty time requirements.... There were multiple questions regarding the above areas, but it shouldn't be that bad as long as you've been studying. If you know your instrument stuff, you should be alright. Good luck! |
