What do they Consider as a Checkride Failure?

When a company ask you do you have any checkride failures in the past, what constitutes as a "checkride failure"

1. A failure at another Part 121, 135 operation

2. An FAA checkride for Private, Instrument, Commercial or Multi

3. Stage Checks while doing your Private, Instrument, Commercial or Multi

Which ones constitutes as a "checkride failure". I believe a failure at another Part 121, 135 operation definitely fits the definition for one but do the others count?

A checkride for any certificate or rating. I would also include part 135/121 checkrides. I would not consider a stage check a "checkride".

1 and 2, but not 3.

Intermediate stage checks should not count, EOC checks do count assuming that you would have got a rating if you passed.

But read the question VERY, VERY carefully. I have seen some airlines ask about stage checks too...they are not (I sure hope not) going to hold you to the same standards as a checkride but don't lie.

What if the Captain failed a recurrent ride while I was the PNF? I never signed anything nor was I ever given any type of retraining, I was just rescheduled the next week with another Captain. Any ideas how this might show up in PRIA?

Why were you rescheduled, because the CA went first and they terminated the event before they got to you?

This is probably not in your training record as a bust, but you are allowed to view your training records and should probably do that to be sure.

Rickair 7777.....That is exactly what happened.

Not a failure.

I talked to the inspector at the Orlando FSDO I asked about if an EOC with exam authority counts as a checkride failure he said no it is just a lesson when you graduate you get your certificate. That is what he said.

That is the FAA perspective, and the battle-cry of the 141 flight school sales manager, but it is CRITICAL to remember that FAA policies ARE NOT binding on employers in a matter like this.

Employers can consider whatever they like, and the industry standard is that if a cert or rating was at stake it was a failure. And yes, there are ways they can find out.

Do you really think that when they show you the door for lying about a failed checkride that you are going to get out of it by telling them that the GA inspector down at your local FSDO said it was OK? Let us know how that works out for you...

If you attended a 141 school because you thought you could not fail a checkride, you were SCAMMED. Take the lesson to heart, and move on.

Wow I would take the FAA word on this one better then. This is also coming from a guy that has experience with the airlines. I will be sure to let you know what happens Rick.
