Default Interview Process

Can anyone tell me how the interview process works? In particular, is the candidate transported by the airline to the interview? What if the candidate is located outside the United States. In my situation, I am a military guy stationed in the UK. The idea of buying multiple round-trip transatlantic tickets is a bit daunting. Is it reasonable to expect an interested US carrier to fly me back to the US for interviews? Thanks in advance for any info.

FDX used to but they don't anymore. I think the pax carriers have passes for interviewees but I don't know for sure. I'm sure the pax guys will respond. I'm assuming you're a US military guy and as such can get onto a MAC (or whatever it's called these days) flight to CONUS and go from there. If you're looking at a long term career with a major carrier I wouldn't let the trans atlantic airfare stop you. It's a legit business expense like that interview suit you're going to need. The airfare should be tax deductible.

If they won't buy a seat for you from Europe, ask to contact the airline's pass bureau. Tell them your situation and ask if they can give a discounted positive space fare.

One of my employers did this for me. Granted, it wasn't from Europe, but it cost a little over 100$ round trip.

SWA will fly you from one of their cities to Dallas and back. UPS will not pay anything for your travel for the interview but will give you a $260 refund if you have to come back for a medical, which I hear we do not do anymore. Those are the only places I interviewed.

Depends on the company.

Don't know about international travel, but most airlines will provide domestic passes (Space A) to interviews. Some companies (NJA used to don't know if they still do), will send positive space tickets... others will offer discounted fares, while some won't offer any form of assistance.

My former employer (ACA) used to offer free tickets on our flights and reduced rate travel on our partner (UAL). IIRC it was $125 roundtrip from anywhere in the US.

CAL offers positive space passes to the interview. Hotel arrangements are the responsibility of the one being interviewed.
